The Working Group on Subseasonal to Interdecadal Prediction (WGSIP) is seeking global experts dedicated to advancing the science, practice, and application of Earth System prediction over these timescales. In addition to improving understanding of the physical processes that influence prediction accuracy, the group focuses on enhancing model setup, forecast diagnostics, and methods for making predictions from weeks to decades. This includes evaluating observation systems, using ensemble and probabilistic methods, applying statistical improvements, and assessing forecast accuracy. The ultimate goal is to improve climate services for society.

We invite applicants with expertise and experience in climate prediction over weeks to decades to contribute their insights to one or more areas of WGSIP’s work.

The initial membership term is 4 years, with the option to renew for up to two additional two-year terms.

This is an excellent opportunity to help advance climate prediction within WCRP and beyond, while collaborating with leading experts in Earth system modeling.

To apply, please submit your application by October 31, 2024, by completing this application form.
