Join us at Universität Hamburg from August 26 to August 30 2024 for an immersive summer school experience. Dive deep into the cutting-edge world of climate modeling and data assimilation alongside 40 students from across the globe.
Discover how recent advancements in climate models, driven by increased resolution, are revolutionizing our understanding of the Earth system. Explore how data assimilation techniques are bridging the gap between models and real-world observations, paving the way for more accurate climate projections.
Led by experts in the field, the summer school offers a unique opportunity to enhance your skills in data assimilation and Earth system modeling. During the program, participants will engage in a series of lectures covering fundamental principles and theoretical concepts of data assimilation, their use in weather forecasting and climate modeling and to provide skill to use the methods.
Complementing these sessions, hands-on workshops will provide invaluable opportunities for students to apply their learning in practical exercises and analyze outcomes firsthand. Emphasis will be placed on analyzing the results including the computation of their error estimates. Students will also be introduced to the rich data base available for climate data assimilation as well as their uncertainties.
Attendance at the school is completely free and includes refreshment breaks as well as lunch. However, participants are responsible for arranging their own travel to Hamburg and accommodations, which can be coordinated either independently or through their supervisors.
Don't miss out on this opportunity to join the forefront of climate research - there is time until May 31, 2024 to send your application.
