We are excited to announce that the Earth System Modeling and Observation (ESMO) project will be featured at the 27th Conference on Satellite Meteorology and Oceanography, scheduled to take place from August 18-22, 2025, in San Diego, CA, and online.

The ESMO team will lead a dedicated session titled:
Advancing Earth System Modeling with Long-Term Earth Observation

This session is looking for research relevant but not limited to the following topics:

  1. Leveraging existing and/or developing new long-term EO datasets to advance process-oriented diagnosis for ESMs;
  2. Improving the usability and accessibility of long-term EOs using emerging technologies (e.g., AI, cloud computing) for the ESM community;
  3. Integrating long-term EOs with ESMs to improve Earth system predictability;
  4. AI applications that leverage long-term EOs to improve Earth system predictability;
  5. Novel methods to integrate EO datasets and other observations relevant for ESMs (e.g., in situ observations, airborne data, and uncrewed systems)

Call for Abstracts:

The conference organizers are currently inviting abstract submissions for both oral and poster presentations across a variety of topics, including those related to the themes of the ESMO session.

Important Deadlines:

  • Abstract Submission Deadline: March 13, 2025, at 5:00 PM Eastern
  • Notification of Acceptance: By the end of April 2025
