This workshop, funded by the Momentum Partnership, will bring together leading modelling centres to explore the future of global model development and evaluation. The discussions and insights from this workshop will be highly relevant for anyone working on seamless modelling challenges.

Why This Workshop Matters

The workshop will focus on key challenges and opportunities facing global seamless model development, including:

  • Seamless Development – Developing a unified framework for testing and benchmarking models across different time and space scales.
  • AI and Machine Learning – Understanding how AI/ML models can enhance model development and evaluation.
  • Ensemble Systems – Improving models to better support ensemble-based approaches.
  • Agile Science – Tackling systematic errors through process-based understanding.
  • Km-Scale Challenge – Addressing the need for higher resolutions and scale-aware parameterisations.
  • Tuning Strategies – Developing adaptable tuning approaches for increasingly complex models and applications.

Although the focus is on global modelling, many of the topics — such as AI/ML integration and high-resolution challenges — will also be highly relevant for regional modelling.

Get Involved – Call for Abstracts (Deadline: 8 April 2025)

This is a great opportunity to present your work and engage with a diverse group of experts. If you have insights or research to share, consider submitting an abstract. There will also be a poster session, and expressions of interest from those who simply wish to attend are welcome.
