ESMO Scientific Steering Group
The ESMO Scientific Steering Group (SSG) plays a crucial role in shaping the project's scientific direction. It identifies key activities, refines procedures, and ensures transparency across all working groups, panels, and task teams. Additionally, the SSG advises on membership and collaborates with the Joint Steering Committee to guide the formation of new projects and initiatives, both within and outside ESMO.
ESMO Working Groups
ESMO Working Groups (WGs) drive and support global activities that advance the ESMO scientific program. As key pillars of the organization, WGs are led by co-chairs and members appointed by the ESMO Scientific Steering Group.
- Working Group on Coupled Modelling (WGCM)
- Working Group on Subseasonal to Interdecadal Prediction (WGSIP)
- Working Group on Numerical Experimentation (WGNE)
- Working Group on Observations for Researching Climate (WGORC)
Projects and Panels
ESMO projects and panels work alongside the Working Groups to achieve specific scientific goals. They may have long-term or ongoing roles, consulting with their Working Group and the Scientific Steering Group (SSG) to address evolving community needs.
- Observations for Model Intercomparisons Project (Obs4MIPs)
- Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP)
- WCRP Infrastructure Panel (WIP)
- Decadal Climate Prediction Project (DCPP)
